Here are some of the previous stories from the Mooting Chronicle:
  • Belinda Ellington and Esther Morris, the winning team from the 1999 ESU National Mooting Competition went on to compete in the commonwealth mooting final. The mooting problem concerned a computer software contract concluded electronically. The UK team were pipped to the post by South Africa, but Belinda was named as best mooter in the commonwealth.

  • A new inter varsity mooting competition is to be held at the University of Essex. The competition will be sponsored by the Weekly Law Reports, and institutions or individuals wishing to take part should contact Alan Lowe, president of the University of Essex Law Society, via email -

  • The 1999 English-Speaking Union National Mooting Competition, sponsored by The Observer and Lovell White Durrant, has been won by Esther Morris and Belinda Ellington of the University of Greenwich, with Mark Lunny and Martin Graham of the University of Glasgow coming a close second. The final was held on 17th June at Gray's Inn. A full report is available here.

  • The 1999 Herbert Smith/GTI/Blackstone Mooting competition was won by University College London, who narrowly beat Queen Mary and Westfield College. The final, held on 29th June, was judged by Keir Stramer of Geoffrey Robertson QC's Chambers, and Terry Mehigan from Herbert Smith. GTI give more information here.

  • The 1999 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition has been won by National Law School, Bangalore, India. The London School of Economics were this year's finalists in the UK, beating Leeds University, who were the national finalist for the three years to 1998.
